Regions

The Manitoba Regional Tourism Network is an association of six rural tourism regions located throughout the province of Manitoba. Our members work to promote rural Manitoba as a travel destination for visitors to our province, as well as for Manitoba residents. While we are preparing our new website, we invite you to learn a little about each member region and to visit their websites for more information.

As the sun rises on the Canadian Prairies, it first gently kisses the lakes, rivers and farmlands of Eastern Manitoba. The vast landscape ranges from farmland and Precambrian Shield to beautiful lakes and historic river waterways, presenting opportunities for agri-tourism, eco-tourism, whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing and hunting. The culture is as varied as the landscape; one can enjoy Francophone, Ukrainian, Mennonite, Métis, Obijway and Cree First Nations food, festivals and heritage.

Manitoba’s inland oceans, Lake Winnipeg and Lake Manitoba, frame the Interlake region – a region rich in Icelandic culture, historical routes and buildings of the fur trade at Lower Fort Garry, and internationally renowned wetlands preservation at Oak Hammock Marsh. Sunbathe on our beautiful beaches, stroll along the boardwalk, take a ride on the Prairie Dog Central and visit the Narcisse Snake Pits. And in winter, the Interlake comes alive with snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and ice fishing.

Manitoba’s Parkland region is a rare and special place. Home to Riding Mountain National Park and several provincial parks, it offers pristine lakes, rolling grasslands and sprawling forest. European settlers brought their culture and architectural styles which still exist in the region’s celebrations and historic sites and churches. Don’t miss the Negrych Farmstead and the Inglis Elevators. World-class flyfishing, 400 km of Trans Canada Trail, numerous winter sports and superb hunting and fishing await your visit.
